I grew up in what used to be a small farm town in Mass, and before that in our nation's farmlands in Kansas. There were few wild places left in farm fields, so when I was a kid and moved back east I spent endless days
exploring the wild places. My favorite spot had little clouds
of white wildflowers: Bluets dancing on rolling hills, Sweet fern that would fill the air with its smell as I ran through it,
Hay-scented fern and enchanting pink lady slippers hid in the cool shade of the surrounding woodlands. It's a place I wish I could visit, but 30 some odd years ago it became a large neighborhood development. With all monoculture lawns and roads.
Places of peace and magic, which connect us to the Earth, are special. I
believe that the spirit of the wild is waiting to be invited back into our
spaces - and that it can enhance any home's beauty!

Hello, my name is Barbara, I am the creator of Wild As Ever Design. I have lived here in Connecticut for hand full of years now, having moved down from the Boston area where I worked on some of the most beautiful estates on the north shore and Brookline, Cambridge areas. I have a great love of our world and the creatures we share it with, backed by a lifetime of
experience and over 25 years in the industry. My goal is to use
my love of design to make a positive impact in the environment. The
creatures we share this home with are struggling to survive. We can
help them and create a beautiful yard at the same time! We can create sustainable landscapes through the use
of smart design and native plants, bringing the foundation for a
thriving ecosystem into our own spaces and increasing the value and beauty of our homes. These beautiful landscapes can also help those creatures struggling to survive in
our sterile monoculture (lawn) landscapes. The idea behind my designs is to combine the wonder we find in the wild places Mother Nature creates with your landscape. The ultimate goal is to ensure that you are completely satisfied with the end result of your project and can welcome a myriad of the most amazing little creatures into your life.
Sustainable landscapes using native & TRADITIONAL plants.
I was a kid of the '70s and spent every waking moment outdoors in the woods or fields near my home. Back then they were full of such diversity, there was life in everything around me! Now those places are void of life, as if the natural wonders have been silenced. Flash forward to to life in my 50s I have grown children of my own, and the change in nature in my lifetime scares me! I am so saddened that this collapsed ecosystem is what their generation's baseline of the world is, and it keeps dwindling with every generation, this quickly declining diversity is all they know. They do not know what it's like stepping out into a magical world of plants, bugs, birds, and all the little creatures that should be! I come from a background in the landscape, floral, and nursery industries, but the changes I was seeing on a day-to-day were not so pleasant. So I decided I had to do my best to protect and restore. I for one miss the magic!

I would love for people to see what amazing stewards they could be. To have yards full of life and a better place to pass on! We can make a huge difference in our world by just allowing space for a little rewilding.
